Staple Piece : Blazer!

26 Mar

Honestly, at this point I am blazered out! They are so in, but I am over them. For me.  They do pull a look together so well and even dress it up.

Here we have a peplum V-Neck shirt, which I found a while ago at NY and Co., Pink Blazer from H&M, Damask Jeans from American Eagle and random jewels.

You will also notice in my last recent posts you’ve seen this blazer a lot — notably I am tired of it, lol.

Black and Brown

26 Mar

So, I have NEVER been a fan of black and brown together. I don’t care that they are neutral colors, they just never meshed well, in my opinion. Be that as it may, I’ve been noticing a lot of black and brown being matched up. So, I’ve tried it. I wasn’t disappointed. While I definitely  was really stepping out of my box with this it always turned out nice.

Also, please realize I am backing catch up from MONTHS… queue the slide show

The first outfit — what you can’t see, is all black, pink blazer, brown boots, and cheetah scarf.

The second outfit — what you can’t see, is a Denim Shirt, neutral based scarf, off white tank, black jeans, pulled together with nude pumps. With out the scarf I did not like this outfit. It definitely pulled everything together.

I really will work to pull this picture part together.

The Challenge : complete

6 Jan

Alright! So it’s been a while and I ran into some bumps in the road but I was able to complete the challenge, some what. So it took me so long to find a denim shirt I liked! And lets not even talk about the damn cheetah scarf, whew!

So, and again, sorry for the ratchet bathroom pic. I couldn’t get the whole outfit. I will in future really work to take the picture so you can see the entire outfit.

A little Peplum!

10 Oct

**Disclaimer**

I will work hard in the future to have much better pictures than “Ratchet Bathroom” pictures and Dressing room pictures. It was my intention to take other pictures, but the combination of me going out at night, obviously the lightening was not good for that,  and this really being my first outfit per-say it just didn’t work out, so my advance apologies. I edited the photos as much as I could to eliminate the unnecessary .

So, like I’ve said in a previous blog, I am a HUGE fan of animal prints. SO,this is the outfit I put together. Now, I love love love the peplum look, but my issue is my breast are big, so most times one piece dresses don’t work for me. They sometimes just don’t fit the way I would want them to. To achieve this look, I did a skirt and top combo.  Since I was going to a club, I did do a little hiking up of the skirt. But, I do like the pencil skirt look a lot better.

+Find: These boots were made for walking…

9 Oct

Alright, so my +Find this week will be my boots. Now, I haven’t worn them yet, but just putting it out here. I don’t know if I can call these a staple piece because they are shoe, BUT, it was imperative that I find boots this season. It’s early in the season, and like a lion I am on the prowl for boots. Now, I have to have width calf boots. My calves are big. I have a large shoe size and my feet are wide, so my options are limited. Now, I’m sure there is like Fashion 101 what not to do is buy something you aren’t in love with, but I think there should be a clause for reality. The reality of the situation is, if I wait to long I may not find anything! So, I found some boots:

Now, when I first found these, I was least than thrilled. In my search, I am finding that the wide leg calfs just aren’t as stylish as other “regular” boots. BUT, less is more. They are a lot more plain than I had in my mind, but I am sure I can dress them up. So, I look forward to putting them on and making it work!!  So… stay tuned to see the look. Will look perfect in Challenge 1.

Back to the basics

9 Oct

What we have here is a little BASIC black dress. It is from the “Basic” section in H&M and they are about $12.95. I picked up one, BUT I am going to take it back because it is a tank top dress and I much rather have a Sleeved dress as Winter is vastly approaching.

Challenge 2:

I love this look. I would like to redo this soon. Now, the Basic dress is easily dressed up  or down. A blazer almost always can dress things up, but I can easily throw on tights and boots and dress it down.

Stay tuned.

SCARVES! Alright so, while I started seeing scarves last fall, I wasn’t necessarily on that trend. But, I recently cut my hair and because my neck is now exposed a bit why not warm myself with this scarf trend! I am a big, big, BIG fan of anything with a animal print. Now, honestly I keep the animal print to my room decor or maybe a clutch but I’ve never actually experimented with it on my body. I’ll start small. And what better way than with a scarf. I’ve noticed that we are putting a lot together and the scarf really pulls the look together. So I am inspired by this look:

I found this on Pinterest. Now there are a lot of elements in this look. The chambray shirt and the colored skinnies. I love love love cheetah with reds and mustards but I’ve never thought to pair it with chambray shirt and colored bottoms or any combination. Now, honestly, I don’t know how much I would like this look with out the scarf. This look needed exactly that scarf to tie it together… Literally. In the next few weeks I will pull this look together and post it. Consider this challenge 1 for myself. I stay away from colored skinnies. I love them just not on my shapely legs but I confident this look will look good on me. So I am excited!

(Scarves 1-3 can be found on Francesca’s . Scarf 4 is located in the junior section of Nordstrom)

The Challenge

Hello there!

This is my journey, and I am going to document this from my point of view! The plan is to become more fashion forward, re-invent myself, if you will. I’ve always been sort of a plain Jane, but the older I get the more I become tired of the same ol’ same ol’. Recently, I’ve gone through a lot of feelings regarding my fashion sense. I know what I like…but on other people. My being a little more on the curvier side it’s hard to see the same visions on myself. My biggest fear that I will just completely make myself look like a fool. But, a dear friend of mine has challenged me to step outside my box, buy something I wouldn’t usually buy and just take more fashion chances.

You are your own worse critique! While I am definitely not under anyones microscope, I always feel like there are a pair of eyes fine tuned onto me; picking me apart and that is where I start to hold back. For weeks now I have been surfing different websites, blogs, Instagram, and Pinterest looking for new ideas. As you are aware, the season of Fall is vastly approaching and why not seize the opportunity to sport trendy scarves, riding boots, colored skinny jeans and tights! Tons and tons of tights! And this is where we start!

My plight:

I am on the more curvaceous side of the scope. I am well endowed in the breast department. My arms are slightly a little bigger than someone my size. My wrists and ankles are thicker. I was cursed with flat, wide and long feet and thick calves. While visually I do have a nice shape, it is hard to accommodate all of this and quickly pull together a nice and shapely outfit. I run into problems where my arms don’t fit shirts that have buttons on short sleeves, or pI am buying larger button up shirts to accommodate my large breast and then the shirt is bigger and baggier in other areas, not leaving a nice silhouette at all. Because my hands are bigger and my wrist are thicker it is often harder for me to find nice bangles, and I have never been a fan of stretch jewelry. Shoes! Oh my word! My love for shoes! I end up being in love from a far. I am a huge huge fan of ballet flats and moccasins and oxford style shoes. I will save my obsession with Louboutin’s for another post, but my point is a lot of shoes in those particular styles are meant for a more narrow foot, and as we all know, the bigger sizes sell out FAST! BOOTS! Boot season is amongst us, no tall Uggs for me, strictly shorts. And, in my experience the wide calf boots leave a lot to be desired, but I am determined to work this all out. And, I would be delighted if you sat back and joined me in this journey!

Stay tuned! I will be posting as often as I can, at least once weekly at the very least! But, I am honestly excited to see how I can expand my closet and rework my closet, And let me not forget I am in no way, shape, or form rich in any manner. SO, if I can start finding these things on some sort of discount or in a way where I am not spending $50 for one thing that would definitely work out in my favor!
